Dr Hanson offers baby botox from his clinic in London for patients looking to focus on very specific areas of the face, with minimal amounts of botulinum toxin.

There has been an explosion in scientific and medical research into the facial muscles which we use for the subtlest of expressions. This insight and the development of smaller dosing options has led us to new techniques, popularly dubbed “Micro-Tox” and “Baby-Tox” (baby botox), in which we use minute doses of botulinum toxin, injected strategically, to achieve incredibly subtle, natural-looking results.

The use of botulinum toxin (often referred to by brand names like Botox, Nuceiva, or Bocouture) has become a key tool in aesthetics over the past few years. What started out being used to resolve forehead lines is now at the heart of a range of innovative, fully licensed applications across the face.

In essence, both Micro-tox and baby botox are about achieving a more natural look and feel, but they’re not interchangeable – they work in different ways. Read on for more about these gentle and highly effective treatments; or get in touch to talk through the options with one of our team.

Baby botox (baby-tox) involves using smaller doses of Botulinum than a traditional treatment, usually to prevent or reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, especially in younger patients. The focus here is on achieving the desired effect while maintaining as much of the natural facial movement as possible. Baby-tox is therefore best for unlocking subtle changes and preventing the onset of deeper lines, rather than making any significant alteration to your facial expressions.

In a Micro-tox treatment, tiny doses of Botulinum are mixed with larger amounts of saline and then injected very superficially, just underneath the skin. Unlike a traditional Botulinum treatment, it is not targeted at the muscles, but rather the skin itself. Micro-tox gently tightens the skin, improving its texture, reducing the size of pores, and ultimately resolving fine lines, too.

BABY BOTOX TREATMENT

The first step is a thorough consultation with one of our highly trained and certified practitioners. We’ll discuss the outcomes you want to achieve; and your practitioner will be able to confirm that Botulinum is an appropriate course of action. We’ll assess your anatomy and skin, answer any potential concerns, review other options which may be appropriate and ultimately fix the injection points which we feel will give you the optimal outcomes.

We will surgically clean your forehead area. In some cases we will also apply a topical anaesthetic. Many patients do not require this, as we use exceptionally fine needles – this means that Botulinum injections are generally well-tolerated. If you are worried about discomfort (or indeed injections in general), your practitioner will be delighted to put your mind at ease.

The practitioner will make a series of minuscule botulinum toxin injections across the treatment area using very fine needles. The injections are shallow, targeting just beneath the skin’s surface; and this will serve to minimise discomfort.

A Micro-tox or Baby-tox procedure can vary but you can be back to your normal, everyday activities very rapidly.

POST-TREATMENT

After treatment, you can usually continue with your day immediately.

After a Botulinum treatment, there are some basic rules to follow, just for the next day or so. First, we recommend that you avoid rubbing the treated area for about 24 hours post-treatment. This ensures that the treatment solution stays at the injection sites, where it’s most needed and most effective. You should also avoid rigorous physical activity for the remainder of the day.

You’ll start to see the effects within 2-7 days, with the full effect visible by around two weeks. The subtlety of the results means that the signs of treatment are minimal, giving you a more natural, radiant look. The results achieved using botulinum toxin typically last from 2-4 months (depending on many factors about you and the areas treated); after which we can repeat your treatment.

When administered by a trained professional like the team at the Dr. Hanson Clinic, Botulinum treatments are considered exceptionally safe. That includes Micro-tox and Baby-tox. Typical side effects are generally mild and temporary; these can include redness, bruising, or swelling at the injection sites. More serious side effects are rare but can include a drooping of the eyelids, headache, or flu-like symptoms. The frequency and severity of these side effects are reduced even further, thanks to the small doses and superficial injection technique.
